The first tubes are stored in the central warehouse

The first tubes are stored in the new central warehouse complex in Duisburg.

On May 4, a truck with the first tube delivery arrived at the new central warehouse complex in Duisburg. The warehouse will gradually be filled until end of September.

The construction work of the central warehouse in Duisburg has largely been completed and all tests have been carried out successfully. Now, 10,000 cassettes are waiting to be filled. The start was made on May 4, when 120 tons of the planned 15,000 tons of tubes have been stored in the high-bay rack.

A moment, which everyone was looking forward to for a long time, but which was over very fast since the system makes it possible to store tubes in and out of storage in a very short time. “This was a very important moment for us. We are now filling the warehouse with life. In the end it is not about a great building, but it is about the tubes, which are stored inside, about the employees, who are working there, and about the improved service, which we can offer”, explains Martin Flatau, Head of Warehouses, Production and Transportation of BENTELER Distribution Germany (BD Germany).

At the end of September, the warehouse will be filled with all material. “We do our utmost to make sure that especially in this phase all orders are carried out without any problems. Our customers won’t notice that we are moving goods into the warehouse. Customers and suppliers will only realize in the near future that our service has improved significantly”, emphasizes Oliver Rechtsprecher, Managing Director BD Germany.
