The construction of the German central warehouse goes to the final stage

The 25-meter high-bay rack contains 10,000 cassettes.

The blue and grey façade of the high-bay rack is well visible from a distance.

An impressive view can be seen from the freeway A40 in Germany: The high-bay rack of the new central warehouse complex of BENTELER Distribution Germany (BD Germany) is rising 25 meters up in the air and the halls for incoming goods, processing and outgoing goods are completed and equipped with cranes and saws. The first tubes will be stored shortly.

The blue and grey mosaic at the façade of the high-bay rack is not only a welcome change in the industry landscape, it is also a symbol for the milestone, which BD Germany is setting with the central warehouse: Customers and suppliers will soon benefit from a better service. “The warehouse brings many advantages such as a better product availability, shorter delivery times, bundled deliveries as well as better and innovative packaging with it”, explains Reinhild Schmidt, Managing Director of BENTELER Distribution Germany.

In the next weeks, the construction of the outdoor facilities will be done, while inside, the cassettes will be added to the high-bay rack. From the beginning of May on, the first tubes will be stored. At the end of September the system is supposed to be fully loaded.

The project is well on schedule. Together with the existing location in Duisburg, the new central warehouse complex with Europe’s biggest high-bay rack for tubes will offer 35,000 square meters space for 27,000 tons of tubes.
